The Group hires more than 2,000 people, generating income for the country, boosting development and improving the life quality of the communities in the Group companies’ influence areas.

The Group´s history begins with the acquisition of Ferroeste in Divinópolis (MG) in 1978. Eight years later, in 1986, the Group began to expand with the establishment of CBF João Neiva, in the city of João Neiva in Espírito Santo. Four years later, in 1990, Ferroeste began the implementation of Gusa Nordeste in Açailândia (MA), which began to operate in 1993.

The following year, 1994, marked the growth and strengthening of Ferroeste, when the Group began to control 100% of the shares of CBF Indústria de Gusa S/A, becoming a reference in the Brazilian pig iron industry.

In the last years, the Group has searched to diversify its activities. In 2007, the Group implemented a Fuel Ethanol Plant in João Pinheiro (MG), with installed capacity to grind 1 million ton of sugarcane / harvest.

In the steelmaking industry, the Group seeks vertical integration in the production of "green steel", a concept created for a steel produced with 100% renewable energy and a zero carbon footprint, without any use of fossil fuels. For this, the Group invests heavily in the forestry sector and in the implementation of a Green Steel Plant in Açailândia (MA).

The Group currently has 40,000 ha of eucalyptus forests, expected to reach 100,000 ha planted in 2018.

The Green Steel Plant have been planned to begin its operation in Jan 2016 with an installed capacity of 600,000 tons / year, reaching 1,2 million tons / year in 2020.

The Group has also invested in renewable energy, installing Thermoelectric Power Plants in the Pig Iron Plants in João Neiva (ES) and Açailândia (MA). The Thermoelectric Power Plants, besides producing enough energy for the operation of the plants, produce exceeding electric energy that is sold to the market.
